Mud House Wine’s Charitable Vintage

Mud House Wine Press release, Mud House Wine’s Charitable Vintage – a new initiative has been launched to raise money for those affected by the Christchurch earthquake.

An 8-year-old Christchurch girl’s drawing of her home after the city’s recent earthquake will feature on a bottle of Marlborough 2010 Sauvignon Blanc specially blended by Mud House wines.
Bella Kingi’s artwork was inspiration for ‘The Day the Ground Moved Like Jelly’ – a $400,000 charitable initiative to raise money for the Christchurch Mayoral Earthquake Appeal.
Local Marlborough restaurateur Marcel Rood initiated ‘The Day the Ground Moved Like Jelly’ campaign as a ‘gift from Marlborough to our neighbours in Canterbury’. Mud House Wines led the project with numerous production, packaging and freighting companies also coming on board to offer their assistance.
Mud House Wine Group Director Neil Charles-Jones says ‘The Day the Ground Moved Like Jelly’ has been a fantastic collaborative effort with locals keen to help the devastated region.
“We’ve had sponsor assistance including free bottles from OI New Zealand, caps from Guala Closures, bottling and logistics from Wineworks Marlborough, labels from Panprint, and freight from Courier Post, with Progressive enterprises offering to sell the wine through all of their supermarkets throughout New Zealand,” he says.
Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman has also thrown his support behind the campaign and says he is proud to work with Mud House and offer his support to the victims of the September earthquake.
“I’m excited to be involved with a charitable initiative which utilizes the very best of Marlborough produce and raises money for the very worthy Christchurch Mayoral Earthquake Appeal established by Bob Parker,” Sowman says.
The new wine will be on sale at all Countdown, Foodtown and Woolworths supermarkets from Monday 18th October, and will be priced at $13.99.
