Charity Wine Sales Surge in Christchurch

Media release; Charity Wine Sales Surge in Christchurch – Canterbury residents have rallied around a local earthquake initiative.

Cantabrians have shown their support for their neighbours to the tune of over $75,000 snapping up wine in a charitable initiative to help the earthquake devastated region.
More than 10,000 bottles of the new Mud House special blend Marlborough 2010 Sauvignon Blanc have been sold to raise funds as part of “The Day the Ground Moved Like Jelly” initiative.
Sales data shows that almost half of the wine purchased was sold in the Christchurch and Rangiora region in the two weeks since it launched.
Mud House Wine Group director Neil Charles-Jones says he’s thrilled to see how quickly Cantabrians have embraced the initiative to help those in their community tragically affected by the earthquake.
“The Christchurch earthquake and its affect on the community touched all of us and we wanted to help in whatever way we could. We are glad that so many people have come on board to support our initiative and ultimately the people of Canterbury,” says Charles-Jones.
Local Marlborough restaurateur Marcel Rood initiated ‘The Day the Ground Moved Like Jelly’ campaign as a ‘gift from Marlborough to our neighbours in Canterbury’. Mud House Wines led the project with numerous production, packaging and freighting companies also coming on board to offer their assistance.
The Marlborough 2010 Sauvignon Blanc specially blended by Mud House Wines is available in Countdown, Foodtown and Woolworths supermarkets nationwide.
