Pizza Dough to help Rescue Chopper Take Flight

Media Release; Pizza Dough to help Rescue Chopper Take Flight – a new initiative to support the Westpac Rescue Chopper has been launched by Domino’s

Pizza and helicopters aren’t things that usually go together, but next week they’ll combine for a good cause.
Domino’s Pizza stores in Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Wainuiomata, Petone and Porirua will hold a Dough Raiser on May 18, where $1 from every pizza sold will be donated to the Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter appeal.
Domino’s franchise owner Amanda Oliver says this will be the third year in a row that her stores have got behind the appeal with a Dough Raiser, which have raised about $1000 each year.
She says the idea to get behind the chopper’s appeal first came about when she was approached by staff her at local Westpac, the helicopter’s principal sponsor.
“The Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter is such an important and vital service. I used to live in a house in the hills over Lower Hutt and saw the chopper fly over my roof many times. So it’s great to be able to our bit in helping to keep it in our skies and helping those in dire need of its services.”
Life Flight chief executive David Irving says, “Fundraising events like this are vital to keep our charity flying. The donations raised will help people in need reach the care they urgently require so we are delighted to hear the Domino’s team is getting stuck in to save lives.”
Ms Oliver says this year she hopes to better the amount raised in previous years so is encouraging the public to get in behind the Dough Raiser and buy a pizza for a good cause.
The Dough Raiser will be held at Domino’s Pizza stores in Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Wainuiomata, Petone and Porirua on May 18 from 11am to 11pm, with $1 from every pizza sold going to the appeal. Pizzas purchased before 8pm on the day will be at the special price of $7.90.
