Domino’s Comes to Aid of KidsCan Charity

Media release; Domino’s Comes to Aid of KidsCan Charity – a sizeable donation has been made by a well-known pizza company.

Domino’s Pizza will hand over $10,000 to children’s charity KidsCan this week following allegations another company reneged on its promised donation.

The food service company is known for its charitable work both here and across the ditch with its Doughraiser campaigns generating funds for numerous Kiwi charities.

Domino’s NZ General Manager Josh Kilimnik, says the company is already a sponsor of a similar charity in Australia and stepping in now to help underprivileged Kiwi children was “the right thing to do”.

“As a company that does what it can for the New Zealand community it was just something I felt strongly about. I want to see all kids get access to the basics such as food and clothing and KidsCan do a fantastic job in helping to make that happen.”

“Getting involved was simply the right thing to do to ensure that our children don’t miss out on what they’ve been promised," says Kilimnik.

KidsCan Ceo Julie Helson says she’s thrilled Domino’s have offered their support by donating the missing $10,000.

“I am blown away. We will ensure that 100% of this donation goes towards food, shoes and raincoats for the kids waiting for our support.”
“Kidscan provides the basics that New Zealand children living in poverty are missing out on to help ensure they can be more engaged in their education and reach their full potential,” says Helson.

Kilimnik says the company is interested in working with KidsCan long term through activities such as its Doughraiser programme.

Domino’s already assists the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which is part of a group of Australian children’s charities dedicated to helping seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged children, he says.

The donation to KidsCan will be made on behalf of the 81 Domino’s stores throughout New Zealand.
