Kiwi Winemaker Nominated For Prestigious International Award

Media release; Kiwi Winemaker Nominated For Prestigious International Award – a former nurse turned winemaker named a finalist in an international wine competition.

Master New Zealand winemaker Nadine Worley has been announced as one of just two Kiwi finalists for the coveted Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year Award.
The prestigious and industry-leading awards, now in their eleventh year, are held annually to recognise and reward the talents of the most exceptional young Winemakers in Australia and New Zealand.
Worley, a winemaker at the award-winning Mud House Winery in Marlborough, has been perfecting her craft for more than ten years, both within New Zealand and abroad.
Originally a children’s nurse, Worley began her new winemaking career in Australia working with cool climate varietals in Victoria and the Adelaide Hills before spending two vintages at a family winery in Italy and a vintage in Oregon in the United States.
A preference for cool climate winemaking led Worley to Marlborough, where she has been working at Mud House since 2006. Since joining Mud House, the wines have received eight trophies and approximately 60 gold medals. As a result of this, Mud House wines are now enjoyed in over 15 countries around the world.
“It’s such a treat to be able to make wines from New Zealand’s three most exciting wine regions and I am absolutely thrilled to be named as a finalist for the Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year Award,” says Worley.
“Winemaking is something I am incredibly passionate about and I cannot think of a better way to have my craft for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Waipara Valley aromatics and Central Otago Pinot Noir acknowledged than to be nominated for an award as prestigious as this.”
The winners will be announced at the Young Winemaker of the Year gala evening, to be held in Sydney on November 18th.
