Welcome Summer – with New 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Media release; Welcome Summer – with New 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc; one of the most promising wines of its varietal has launched onto the waiting market.

Bring on the lazy, hazy days of summer – beautiful sunsets, balmy evenings and barbecues with friends – you can’t beat the season of sun, fun and entertaining. Inject some crispness into your season with the new 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – summer has never tasted better!

A perfect accompaniment to stunning summer meals and canapés this party season, the new 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an ideal match for delicious dishes such as pan fried scallops with bacon and asparagus, fresh fish on the barbecue, or bountiful summer salads.

With its pale straw hue, vibrant passion fruit aroma and bold tropical flavours balanced by crisp grapefruit acidity, the new vintage 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc looks set to follow in the footsteps of previous standout Mud House favourites such as the award-winning 2010 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Mud House Winemaker, Nadine Worley, says the new 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a product of perfect vintage conditions for wine making.

“A warm spring without frost, adequate rainfall and warm temperatures meant shoots grew quickly and flowering was earlier than normal – an ideal situation for creating a beautifully balanced and flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc.”

A finalist for the prestigious Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year of Award – one of only two finalists from New Zealand – Worley says she is excited about the new 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

“As a winemaker, I can see that the 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is true to Mud House style – bold but elegant, vibrant and delicious, crisp and exciting,” says Worley.
Made from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grapes, 30 per cent of the new 2011 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the award-winning wine company’s Woolshed Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley, with the remainder sourced from carefully selected grower blocks in the Wairau, Ure and Awatere Valleys.

The 2011 Mud House Sauvignon Blanc ($18.99-$20.99) and full range of Mud House wines are available at specialty wine outlets and leading supermarkets nationwide.
