Pizza Turned into $1,100 Worth of Dough for Westpac Chopper

A day’s worth of pizza turned into $1,100 worth of dough for Westpac Chopper in the Wellington region last week. Five Domino’s pizza stores worked together to raise the money for the Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

hel3Wellington and Hutt Valley Domino’s stores have raised over $1,100 for the Westpac Chopper Appeal through their Doughraiser last week.

Domino’s Pizza stores in Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Petone, Wainuiomata and Porirua worked together to make the generous contribution to the Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

This rescue chopper is based in Wellington and looks after the community in the wider area from Wairarapa across to Marlborough.

The Doughraiser saw $1 from every pizza sold in the stores on Wednesday donated to the charity as part of the nationwide Westpac Chopper Appeal.

Wellington Regional Chopper Champion, Rachel Compton from Westpac, says the company is thrilled with the results of the Doughraiser.

“This is absolutely awesome news! We are extremely stoked that Domino’s could come on board for another year and help us raise over $1000 towards such an important cause,” says Compton.

Amanda and Mark Oliver, franchisees of the five stores, say they are delighted with the result of the appeal and the assistance this can provide for the Westpac Rescue chopper.

Last May the stores combined to raise $1,100 for the Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter appeal – and it was this success that drove them to carry out the appeal again.

“After the success of last year we are thrilled to get behind this appeal again,” says Mrs Oliver.

“The Westpac Chopper plays a critical role in helping people around the country and they need as much assistance from the community as they can get to continue their life-saving work.”

More than $11,000 has been raised through weekly Doughraisers held at Ms Oliver’s Upper Hutt store over the past year, while the other four stores have contributed about $2,000 each from various events.
