Best served chilled to a super-relaxed and pampered Mum, the Allan Scott Marlborough Blanc de Blancs NV is an elegant drop that is both luxurious and light. With its gorgeous gold hue and distinctive lemon flavours, the Méthode Traditionnelle is complemented by a hint of tropical fruit and honeycomb finish – a delicious drop for deserving Mums.
The Allan Scott Marlborough Blanc de Blancs NV enjoys a well-earned reputation as part of the Allan Scott vineyard since its inception in 1996. Made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, the base wine of this Méthode Traditionnelle is crafted using similar techniques to still wines and offers a beautifully seamless integration between fruit concentration and acidity – providing a mouth-watering finish that lingers on the palate.
Owner of Allan Scott Wines, Allan Scott, says the company nominated one particular vineyard to nurture the grapes for this famous style of wine, with French origins dating back 500 years.
“Although the vineyard techniques are very similar to our other varieties at Allan Scott Wines, the timing of picking must be very precise. Unlike other varieties we grow, which are picked almost at their height of ripeness, the ‘bubbly’ grapes are picked earlier and therefore less ripe to ensure a high natural acidity and focus giving this champagne-style wine its finesse and unique flavour,” he says.
“Mother’s Day is a day for Kiwis to say a huge ‘thanks’ to Mum – and what better way to do this than with a lovely glass of bubbly – and don’t forget the chocolates!”
